A Kilogram of E Is Even More Incriminating When a Child Is Present

Some drugs never go out of style, while others are most popular with a certain generation. Baby Boomers assumed that cocaine was harmless, boasting about it in popular songs and edgy comedy routines, at least until John Belushi overdosed in the early 1980s. If we are to believe elderly journalists, the kids of Generation Z love their ketamine, whether you describe its effects as ketamine chic or the Gen Z stare. For millennials, though, the drug of choice is MDMA, also known as ecstasy, E, or, if you are really late to the party, molly. Most news items about MDMA either relate to research studies and proposed legislation about the potential therapeutic uses of MDMA to treat conditions like pos-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and opioid addiction, or to arrests and overdoses stemming from the club scene, where people buy individual pills from strangers or acquaintances on strobe-lit dancefloors. MDMA pills are famously colorful, but few who get arrested for possession or sale of MDMA have seen the pill presses that produce these variegated tablets that make the world burst into exquisite hues. Meanwhile, at the end of last year, police arrested three men on suspicion of manufacture and distribution of MDMA after executing a search warrant and finding a pill press and a vast quantity of MDMA powder. Police Execute Search Warrant and Find Pill Press After Cat and Mouse Game Across Jacksonville
In late 2025, police in Jacksonville investigated the source of the city’s MDMA pills and began to suspect that someone local was producing them. They would see suspected dealers frequently visiting a certain house, but by the time they had gathered enough evidence to request a search warrant from the court, the activity at the suspected drug house would die down, only for the same dealers to start visiting a different house a short time later. By December 2025, though, they had found enough evidence to search the house where the pill press was based, and they executed a search warrant. According to the Fourth Amendment, police cannot search a private residence or seize personal property unless the court has issued a warrant.
Inside the house, the police found several pill presses and just over a kilogram of MDMA powder. They also found two firearms and small quantities of cannabis, cocaine, and methamphetamine. The police arrested three men, one in his 60s and two in their 30s. The older man was the father of one of the younger men. The other young man also received charges of child neglect, because a young child was present in the house.
