Matthew J. Olszewski

Matthew J. Olszewski practices criminal defense in Orlando, Florida, but limits his practice to Orlando and Central Florida drug related crimes. He is admitted to practice law in the State of Florida.

Experience:

Before founding the FL Drug Defense Group law firm in Orlando, Florida, Mr. Olszewski served as the coordinator of the Florida Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor (TSRP) Program. As the state-wide coordinator of the Florida TSRP Program, Mr. Olszewski was responsible for conducting training and providing guidance for Florida prosecutors and law enforcement officers in matters related to criminal investigations and prosecutions.

Mr. Olszewski has trained thousands of Florida prosecutors and law enforcement officers in Orlando, Central Florida and officers spanning each of Florida’s 20 judicial circuit courts. Mr. Olszewski has trained thousands of prosecutors and law enforcement officers in the State of Florida as well as throughout the country on criminal investigations and criminal prosecutions, report writing, courtroom testimony, jury selection, opening statements, direct and cross examinations, and closing arguments. Mr. Olszewski is one of 6 people in the State of Florida and the only Orlando and Central Florida defense lawyer that has worked with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) to write the curriculum used by the State of Florida at its law enforcement training academies. Mr. Olszewski co-authored the book that is used to train every law enforcement officer in Orlando and Central Florida when it comes to making arrests.

In his role as TSRP Coordinator for the State of Florida, Mr. Olszewski was sworn in as a Special Prosecutor by the State of Florida to argue criminal cases in Orlando, Osceola County, Seminole County, Volusia County, Brevard County, Hernando County, Marion County, Alachua County, Broward County, Lee County, Collier County and Monroe County. Mr. Olszewski worked closely with members of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) on issues that arise in criminal cases.

Mr. Olszewski has instructed at criminal seminars in Texas, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Missouri, Oregon, North Carolina, Arkansas and Alaska and at three international conferences.

Prior to his experience as TSRP Coordinator, Mr. Olszewski served as an Assistant State Attorney for the Orlando/Osceola State Attorney’s Office in Florida’s 9th Judicial Circuit in Orlando, Florida. While a prosecutor, Mr. Olszewski had the opportunity to handle over 100 criminal trials.

Jacob S. Bonnell

Experience:

Attorney Bonnell attended Florida State University and graduated cum laude with majors in political science and international affairs. In his final year of college, Mr. Bonnell lived and studied abroad in Valencia, Spain.

Mr. Bonnell obtained his Juris Doctor from the Florida State University College of Law in 2016 and was licensed by The Florida Bar to practice law that same year. During his time in law school, Mr. Bonnell clerked for a local law firm and also provided family law services to the indigent.

In his final year of law school, Mr. Bonnell was qualified by the Florida Supreme Court as a certified legal intern. As a legal intern, he worked at the 2nd Circuit Public Defender’s Office representing juvenile defendants in all stages of criminal proceedings, including trial.

Throughout his legal career, Mr. Bonnell has practiced as a trial attorney in both criminal and civil law. Mr. Bonnell served for several years as an Assistant State Attorney in the 9th Judicial Circuit (Orange/Osceola) and the 18th Judicial Circuit (Seminole/Brevard). During that time, Mr. Bonnell prosecuted hundreds of cases, gaining invaluable courtroom experience.

Prior to joining FL DUI Group, Mr. Bonnell practiced in personal injury law. As a plaintiff’s lawyer, Mr. Bonnell advocated for those harmed by the negligent or intentional conduct of others, recovering substantial compensation for their injuries, pain and suffering.

Attorney Bonnell utilizes his prior courtroom and litigation experience to provide zealous representation to his clients. As a former prosecutor, Attorney Bonnell uses his insider knowledge and specialized training to provide a skilled and informed representation.
