The Drug Sting in the Glove Box

For people who do not live in Florida, visiting the theme parks of Orlando is a once in a lifetime experience.  The Disney World you visit as an adult when you are an adult is every bit as gleefully overstimulating as you imagined it would be when you were a child.  For Floridians, the theme parks hold their own kind of fun.  Going to a B-list theme park as a school field trip in high school is an exhilarating rite of passage, and so is blowing your paycheck on tickets to the Magic Kingdom when you are a newly employed young adult.  Once you reach age 23, though, the theme parks begin to lose their appeal; you wonder why anyone would pay so much money for anything, no matter how awesome it might be.  The only exception is when you experience Disney World while under the influence of hallucinogens.  For the price of admission and an LSD tab, you can look into Mickey’s eyes and see the universe.  Two acid tabs might be able to create the same peak experience in one of Florida’s more boring tourist destinations, such as Fort Walton Beach.  If you are facing criminal charges for trying to bring some cosmic meaning to Florida’s banality with the help of psychedelic drugs, contact a Florida drug offenses attorney.

Undercover Police Ride in the Florida Panhandle’s Trippiest Uber Car

Miramar Beach is not one of the more interesting places in Florida to visit, but it certainly is cheap.  This must have been the rationale for hosting a law enforcement convention there.  In August 2023, two sheriff’s deputies from Citrus County got into John Alcott’s Uber car while they were in town for the convention.  Alcott allegedly opened the glove compartment of his car to reveal a dazzling array of LSD gel tabs and psilocybin mushrooms.  The deputies began to treat the situation as an undercover operation, and they bought some hallucinogens without letting Alcott know that they were law enforcement.  He told them that he would send them more drugs by mail order if they contacted him about it.

At the end of the Uber ride, the deputies took Alcott’s contact information, and after they went back to Citrus County, they stayed in contact with Alcott, as well as with the Sheriff’s office in Alcott’s home county.  By February 2024, they had planned a sting operation.  They contacted Alcott and told him they were back in the Florida panhandle to buy more drugs, and they arranged to meet with him to buy a quarter pound of mushrooms and 200 LSD gel tabs for $5,000.  When the transaction was complete, they arrested Alcott, who is now facing felony charges for trafficking in Schedule I hallucinogens.
