Sale of Counterfeit Pills

You know you are doing well financially when the amount of money in your possession is 1,000 times your age. Financial planners often say that your goal should be to retire with $1 million in retirement savings, but this is clearly aspirational content; no one has that kind of money, not in today’s economy. If you retire at age 65 with $65,000 in the bank, you are doing better than most; your Social Security check plus your $65,000 can take you far; you might not be able to travel the world, but you can treat yourself to a tray of Publix leaf cookies every Christmas. Most people simply live paycheck until they reach an age where they can no longer drag their old bones to work. Young people who even have as many coins in their pocket as the number of years of their age are a rare breed. If you are 21 years old and you have any money at all, you are one of the lucky few, or one of the unlucky few, depending on your perspective. $21,000 in the possession of a young person is bound to draw the suspicion of law enforcement. If you are facing criminal charges after police found large amounts of cash, controlled substances, and other items that led them to suspect you of illegal activity in your possession, contact a Florida drug offenses attorney.
Undercover Officers Buy Counterfeit Pills From Boynton Beach Man
In April 2025, undercover officers communicated with Miquan Owens and expressed interest in buying oxycodone pills. Owens agreed to meet the officers in the parking lot of Total Wine in Boynton Beach. The officers paid Owens $200, and he gave them ten pills. Then they showed their badges and arrested him.
A forensics lab later tested the pills and found that they contained fentanyl but no oxycodone. This is typical of counterfeit prescription pills, whether the pills they are made to resemble contain opioids or not. At least half of the counterfeit prescription pills seized by law enforcement last year contained fentanyl. This is why accidental overdoses on counterfeit prescription pills are so common.
After arresting Owens, officers searched his residence. They found 197 grams of cocaine, 330 grams of fentanyl powder, and an assortment of counterfeit pills. They also found a safe with $21,000 in cash.
Owens, 21, faces criminal charges for trafficking in fentanyl, trafficking in cocaine, sale of Schedule II controlled substances, and use of a cellular phone to commit a felony. Cocaine and fentanyl are Schedule II controlled substances. The only drugs that are always illegal are Schedule I controlled substances, such as heroin. Schedule II drugs like cocaine and fentanyl carry a high risk of abuse but are legal for medical use in at least one situation.
